Raw food, in theory, sounds a little bit intimidating. Our goal at Treats Unleashed is to help educate pet parents in order to make the best choices to keep their pet happy and healthy. 

Raw food comes in many different options and there is an option for every dog or cat! Whether you prefer a specific meat content, protein, or method of feeding, Treats Unleashed has solutions for every pet! This August, we will be hosting three different raw food tasings in the St. Louis area to help educate pet parents on all things raw. Our first sample day will be at our Lake St. Louis shop on Saturday, August 6th from 11 AM - 2 PM. Our second sample day will be held at our Central West End shop on Saturday, August 13th from 11 AM - 2 PM. Our third and final sample day will be at our South Kirkwood shop on Saturday, August 20th from 11 AM - 2 PM.

What will we be sampling out?

We will be offering a variety of different raw options in order to fit every pup's needs! 

Stella and Chewy's Raw Coated Kibble - Start your bowl out with a base of Stella annd Chewy's raw coated kibble! With each piece of slow-baked kibble coated in a dusting of freeze-dried raw, this food is great for anyone looking to integrate raw into their dog's diet

A Pup Above Gently Cooked Recipe - Next, top your kibble with A Pup Above's human-grade gently cooked food. This food is prepared by sous-vide, meaning it is sealed in an air-tight container and cooked at a low tempterature for a long period of time. This method of cooking ensures that all nutrients stay in the food throughout the entire cooking process.

Small Batch Freeze-Dried Slider- After your gently cooked topper, add a freeze-dried nugget to your dog's bowl. Freeze-dried raw food is perfect for our on-the-go pet parents or for any pet owners that have limited freezer space! The act of freeze-drying slowly removes moisture from the raw food at very low temperatures. This process ensures that all nutritional value remains in the food. Just add some warm water to the slider in order to re-hydrate!

Primal Raw Frozen Pronto - Finish your bowl with some Primal Pronto! Primal Pronto come in small, bite-sized pellets, making it the perfect raw topper for any sized dog! This is the perfect method for a quick dinner, as it thaws within 20-30 minutes. 

Finalize the rawgust experience with a sample of Primal goat milk and Koha air-dried beef lung treat or cod skin treat. These foods are the perfect supplement to any diet!

Why Raw?

At the heart of raw feeding is the simple idea that our beloved dogs and cats, regardless of being fuzzy friends, are true carnivores. Raw feeding results in many tangible benefits, ranging from a shinier, softer, healthier coat to a stronger and healthier digestive system. Raw food has up to 80% moisture content, which allows dogs to consume moisture from something that isn't water. This is especially important for cats, as our feline friends require more moisture in their diet to avoid digestive and urinary issues. Raw food is also great for pets with food or seasonal allergies, as it is limited ingredient and made with whole, nutrient, vitamin rich ingredients. Raw feeding is the most biologically appropriate form of feeding for dogs and cats, meaning most similar to what your pets' ancestors ate in the wild. Raw food is packed with protein and includes low quantities of carbohydrates and starches. This method of feeding leads to an overall healthier and happier pet.
